St. Martin Coop Leads Urban Gardening and Vermicomposting Training for Greener Communities

A meaningful step toward a greener future was taken today, August 13, 2025, as St. Martin Coop successfully conducted a free training on Urban Gardening and Vermicomposting. The training was held in partnership with the Provincial Agriculture Office, whose expert trainers led the sessions for participants from three barangays in Bocaue—Brgy. Bambang, Brgy. Lolomboy, and Brgy. Duhat—and one barangay from Sta. Maria, Brgy. Población. The goal of the training was to equip the beneficiaries with practical knowledge on how urban gardening and vermicomposting work, and how these practices can be applied in their own communities. Each barangay has a designated vacant lot that will be transformed into an urban garden—part of St. Martin Coop’s new project to promote environmental care and community development. A total of 36 participants attended the training, and each one left with new learnings, inspiration, and a big smile. Aside from the free knowledge, every attendee received an Urban Gardening Starter Pack, which included vegetable seeds, a rake, a pail, netting, rubber gloves, a marker, and other essential gardening tools. They also received free certificates and warm support from the cooperative. Alongside the training, the Business Development Center of St. Martin Coop conducted a Membership Orientation Seminar. This gave participants a deeper understanding of what St. Martin Coop stands for—its mission, vision, and how it serves as a partner in improving the lives and livelihoods of its members. The event was filled with learning and hope. Through this initiative, St. Martin Coop once again proved that with unity, knowledge, and care for the environment, we can build a better and more sustainable future for our communities.
